I've used Adobe and Foxit, I actually prefer Adobe. But I'll be careful of what I open.

    Adobe 8 or 9?

9 is much, much faster than 8 :)

it might still be bigger than your foxit reader, but they cleaned it up a bit :)

    Hi McGrady,

Q1: Are you using Foxit Reader the Freeware Viewer?

Q2: Does Foxit Reader use "JavaScript"?

And a Q for the rest of the Team here ...

Q3: So are you folks recommending to Uninstall Adobe PDF Reader ... period!?!?

    Thanks,

    G! :)

Well, you can do what Adobe suggested, disable JavaScript.

You can just avoid pdfs from potentially unsafe sources.

I personally will continue to stay on Adobe Acrobat - I get my pdf documetns from my favorite newspaper only - that's pretty much it - so yes, not a failsafe, but reasonably safe :)

    Exactly.
(Or perhaps Sumatra PDF if you don't like Foxit. link)
Foxit Reader suites me well as I only read PDF's occasionally.
No need for Adobe bloatware. :)

foxit here as well. adobe reader will NEVER find its way on any of my systems... ridiculously bloated to just read pdf's and foxit let you even edit and type on them with the pro version which i use all the time

Was never crazy about Foxit...but downloaded and have tried Sumatra. Sumatra takes a while to load a PDF, but once it's opened it, it's a breeze to use. It has given me the ability to use circuit diagrams (huge ones) easily without having to print them first. Because Adobe became a pig and very slow with everything.

A word of caution with Sumatra though....if you are doing graphics intensive work (circuit diagrams of pc boards etc.) ,don't set the zoom higher than 100% until the whole thing has loaded.

Then you can go to town (within reason).

Sumatra works like a bomb. I really like it. It is going to help me a lot.

And, once again, Baserk, you have been spot on. :D
A rep for you is the least I can do mate.

    Thanks

foxit reader is faster and lighter true, but it also has java script. so simply switching doesnt protect you. you still have to go into the foxit preferences and disable java.

just throwing that out there since no one mentioned it. i dont want people to install foxit it thinking they are safe and get the trojan anyway. so whichever you choose make sure to just disable java.

Adobe is apparently working on the problem.
Despite the fact that I'm personally using Foxit reader and would still recommend it to others, if you're on Adobe Reader 9, then there's little point in removing it since it's lighter and faster in comparison to the previous versions by far.
    :)

Just be careful in downloading pdf's from suspicious sources.
