Once in a while, as soon as I start up my laptop, AVG control center pops up a message saying "The following components are in error state : update manager". When I manually update, it runs ok. This happens for me too frequently these days. I have everything enabled by defualt. I am thinking of switching to Avira.

Can anyone help me in this issue?

Uninstall the program and then reinstall it. This happened to me once before as well where it would not update,

I think it may have to do with the fact that it seeks the update automatically before the internet is confirmed.

It could possibly be two things: First,

Make sure that the "Schedule daily update" task is activated.

    1. Open AVG control center (double click the icon in the notification area)

    2. In the area of the window where it lists the status of AVG's components, click "Scheduler" then click the "Scheduled Tasks button at the bottom of the window.

    3. In the window that opens, click "update plan in basic mode" and then click on the Edit Schedule button. Make sure both checkboxes are checked in the window that appears.

Second, Check the Update Manager's properties to ensure that it's setup correctly-Here's How:

    1. Open AVG control center (double click the icon in the notification area) if you closed it from before.

    2. In the area of the window where it lists the status of AVG's components, click "Update Manager" then click the "Properties" button at the bottom of the window.

    3. Make sure your window looks like mine: [IMG]

    Hope this helps you :)
