    Is AVG shown in taskmanager?

I had a problem that AVG wasn't in the notification area, but it was still running according to task manager. I upgraded my motherboard (Desktop) so re-formatted the HDD and it's ok with this installation. Maybe a reinstall of AVG will help.

uninstall completely (preferably use RevoUninstaller) and reinstall... should work then.

I had this same issue. Really pissed me off. I have not been too happy with AVG recently. It's not catching all it could and now this came up after yesterdays update as well. Had to uninstall and reinstall. Kept crashing IE as I attempted to log into my citrix VPN today. The folks working on AVG are getting extremely sloppy.

Try Avast. It just protects without worries, hastles or headaches.

Supposedly not the best out there.....but in the top 3 FREE AV's.

Stable too and does not bug me for input. Just does its job. Properly.

    Cheers,
    Theo
