Am I missing something? I don't see MSE anywhere on that list.

IIRC MSE doesn't have a Zero day protection, or does it? Still, after using Norton, Symantec, Zone Alarm, and a couple others on the list, I think MSE best suits my needs. All, and I mean all of the others, gave me problems. They either slowed me down, were a PITA to configure, or just kept asking me to "approve" connections that I had already approved.

It's at the bottom of the list.

Duh... I tend to skip over the blue header/footer when I view lists. Thanks for pointing that out. So sorry. :D

However, my comments in para 2 still apply to my situation.

but why would you use the worst out of the list when there are other free options that demolish it such as Comodo or AVG?

to be fair, regarding your comment that some AVs cause problems or slow down. I hear you. I have licenses for Eset NOD32, Bitdefender AV, Kaspersky AV, only NOD32 is the one that sits silently there and protects me with no false positive and minimal system imparct.

Bitdefender although is one of the best at detection sometimes causes havoc on a system. Kaspersky Antivirus slows down my internet browsing so bad that pages load as if I was ona 56k dial up connection because of its HTTP scanning

NOD32 doesn't have all those fancy bells and whistles, it just scans and detects and does an awesome job at it with minimal system impact

I'm using MSE since it first debuted in 2009 and to this day I hadn't had issues with viruses or various malware (neither did anyone elses computers that have had MSE installed).
MSE doesn't have 0-day protection, but for the most part, most other AV's (paid or otherwise) don't deal with those threats well either.
Furthermore, MSE has the lowest false positives track record to date (compared to others) which also affects the results.

Also... Avast and AVG have certain bells and whistles (which I find useless) that MSE doesn't have.
MSE is a basic protection software - but still enough to deal with virtually any threat.
As for browser protection - heh, I use Chrome which has the following extensions: HTTPS everywhere, Do not Track and Adblock Plus (I go to 'shady' web sites as well) and I also have Malwarebytes (on-demand) just in case (which I use periodically and always comes up clean).

I can only speak from personal experience, and that tells me that MSE (for me, and others who us it) 'scores' better than what's indicated in the above review.

strange how avg show the free version and the paid internet security but avast only shows the free version while the paid version is way superior and not on the list.

And part of the title is weird. "MSE owned" What does that mean. MS owns the testing procedure? If so do you think they would put their product at the very bottom? I am always somewhat leery of a list of best anti virus software. One day it's one software on top, another day another list done by someone else has a completely different anti virus software on top.

OK, I just thought 'owned' meant possessed. 'own' means to possess as it is in my dictionary. The other meaning isn't in my dictionary.

My experience has been completely opposite.
I find it highly accurate, and I hadn't experienced a problem since having MSE installed in my system.

Intel d00d, (or BerryRacer, Notebook Forumer, Lenovodude, Y570, or even Matrix Leader, whichever you prefer)

Just because you claim MSE had "MOST false positives" doesn't mean they were false.

So yeah, 2 cents is probably what I'd pay for this information. :p

I'm really not trying to belittle you, or your attempts to contribute to our community, but why do you feel the need to constantly change your identity? I realize that your Tweak Arena forum hasn't got that much traffic, but maybe if you stuck with one posting ID, you would get more on your other site.

I've been using MSE off and on since it came out, more on than off, and find myself always coming back to it. Like some have said, other AV programs may offer more bells and whistles, but MSE provides a reliable, lightweight, no ad, and free program. I have not had any issues with it and will keep using it.
