To be honest with you, these days, all AVs are good and with behavioral blockers in some of them, it makes things even better. To me personally, the number 1 factor when choosing an AV is how light it is on my system and that it doesn't mess up other system components or the OS

But d00d. look how well is Windows Defender has become

What's your go to AV that's free? What's your go to that's not free?

    Tried them all bro:

Free = Avast Free (custom install without all the bloat) or 360 Security Essential

Paid = ESET NOD32 Antivirus as it has a PUP blocker, it blocks bad HTTP connections just like a firewall would but without the hassle of a firewall, super light, allows me to reinstall it as many times as I wish without blocking my license (which is why I don't use KAV since it blocks the license after 3 activations and now comes bundled with Hotspot Shield even in the AV only, I hate bloatware).

Runner up to NOD32 would be F-Secure AV (not the Internet Security or Safe)

I stay away from any Internet Security Suite as they are too bloated for my liking

PS: Using NOD32 AV v10 at the moment
