This was really good, zfactor. I've always wanted to see concrete comparisons. We already have two stickied threads, but maybe we could add it to one of them, or sticky this, or something.

FYI, A link to/info about av-comparatives.org is already mentioned in both of the stickied threads.

Anyways thanks for the heads-up on the new comparison. It always help when deciding on whether to pay for an AV/AV suite or go with a free alternative.

I don't like Kaspersky as well. Because it uses high resources compared to Norton and NOD32.

    Back to the result.
It seems McAfee is strong on the result testing. Strange. LOL.
    Norman sucks. LOL.
Avira is really nice^^! Basically, the 2nd BEST PAID AV/IS.
Kaspersky really awful. It got the lowest among the famous AV/ISs such as Norton, McAfee, ESET, Avast and Avira.

    In concluded,
Avoid AVG. As expected it is the most useless AV/IS ever meet.
Get better AV/ISs such as Norton, Avira, Avast, G Data, ESET and F-Secure. I am not sure about Kaspersky now because the result shows it sucks(last time used to be 1 of the best).
McAfee is very outstanding on the result, not sure if it is real(last time used to be suck).

DarkSilver - I understand your previous experience with Kaspersky, but it's not slowest AV out there. I am actually a kaspersky beta tester (Gold Beta Tester) since version 6 till verstion 8) and it has improved tremendously. As for the results, I am not quite sure how to take that. How do we know that they had the Proactive Defense enabled? It isn't known to us. Is it? If you've ever used the newest versions of Kaspersky, you'll know that its proactive defense future is extremely quick on catching suspicious activities. So, I still think that these results don't reflect the exact potential of Kaspersky AV.

You know what's really sad? Our community college for an awkward reason decided to go with Sophos!?

The McAfee detection rate without internet connection was 92.6%. ( See page 9)
