So AVG keeps telling me that msnhook.dll is a trojan, but I need it to run Direct Console on my laptop. I went to add it as an exception in AVG, but it says I don't have permission to access the file, and that I need to contact the file owner or administrator, which as far as I know is me on both accounts. I only have the one administrator account setup, so why can I not allow this file to be run?

I had the same problem....
I switched over from AVG to Avira.
Problem solved. -
Seen it mentioned before, I'll look into it. Thanks.
Would still like to know why it wont allow me access to create an exception for the file. -
how did you do it in AVG?
For me, I went to the following...Tools > Advanced settings > resident shield > exceptions and added a path to "program files/asus/direct console". This way the scan avoided the folder. -
I was trying to do it through PUP Exceptions, which I read to do on a blog I found upon googling the error I received.
But your way worked great. Thanks a lot. -
