Because of their 5 year anniversary, Emsisoft is offering their anti-malware product A-Squared for only $5 (1 year license).
The paid version offers Ikarus anti-virus, anti-spyware and the much hailed Mamutu behavioural blocker.
While this product is more prone to false positives then some competitors and it may not be the best in removal of nasties, the Mamutu part is an exceptionally strong behavioural blocker/intrusion detection system.

For only $5 you can have Mamutu and more for a year.
The offer lasts from december 10 to december 14; linky.
    Cheers.

A-Squared has horrible detection rates. Go with SAS Free and/or MBAM Free

    Final verdict?

I'm currently running either Avast/Avira with SAS (all free versions) and Windows FW on home pcs. Does it make sense for me to spring for this?

I'm poor right now, so price is attractive. :D

Even if only for just the Mamutu part, it's an excellent offer.
The Ikarus AV part works only on-demand so you can use it together with your current AV of choice.
Mamutu is an excellent behavioural blocker/intrusion detection sytem, like ThreatFire but more refined.
Download a trial version, use it for a day or 2 and then decide if you like it enough to spend your money on it.
    Cheers.

Thanks, appreciate the response and the find Baserk. I'll give the trial a run and see how it is.
