just found out that the samsung x50 wmv 2130 sells for "only" 2800 euro now. that's 600 euro less then a few days ago (that's more than 17% less).
well.. it is still not cheap but i do ask myself what caused the price drop. anyone any ideas?
the is no competing new somesung model coming out.. as far as i know at least...
maybe i'm just paranoid - but i don't trust this.
    cheers

    Is that the x600 x-50?

If so, it's probrably because of the newer x50, the one with the x700.

    If not, then, HOORAY!!!!!!!

It could possibly be because of the news about Samsung's new 19" notebook. They may possibly be trying to lower their prices worldwide so that they can gain some recognition before they make the move to the US market. However, the x50 WVM 2130 is the top of the line X50, it has WSXGA+ and the X700, 2800 euros is still expensive, but it is definately a good improvement to Samsung's retail policy. Yea Samsung!!!

exactly.. it is the top model. and the the older 2ghz version with the x600 is 2.700 euro. the official german samsung site still states a recommended price of 3400 euro for the 2130 version - but many big online shops changed their price down to 2800...

since the 19" notebook will not be a direct competitor of the x50 series it just feels a bit fishy... maybe samsung will publish a new x50-like series based on their new design? for ergonomic or heat or performance reasons? why would they drop prices even before the notebook hits the market?
i have a feeling one should wait a month or two now.. let's see if i can handle this, considering the price drip ;)

    welcome to paranoia city...

feels a bit funny replying to my own post, but - just wanted to let you know that samsung now oficially dropped prices for the x50 2130 from 3.600 to 3000 euro.
anyone any ideas why? prices have been quite stable with the x series in the last years...

I suspect the price drop is to boost sales. Though i've been in love with the X50 for ages, there was no way i was going to spend that much for what we got. Now with the new prices on the updated platform... :D Now all i have to do is swing through germany on my way out of Europe so i can get that baby tax free :D
