    what does the fn key + f8 do? it gives three options and i have no idea what their purpose is.

    On my NC10 Speedmode gives priority to the active window/application.

    I assume it's the same on your Q310.

    I discussed the effect of this control in my NC10 review (link below).

    More important is the silent option which reduces fan activity at the expense of higher temperatures.
