If the battery is not removable then there's a battery disconnect switch. Look for a small hole on the bottom next to a symbol of a rectangle with a cross in it. Poke an unbent paperclip through the hole after disconnecting the mains power (it will automatically reconnect when the mains power is plugged in).

This thread discusses downgrading of BIOSes and explains how the flashing process works.

Pressing F10 at the BIOS screen (except you can't see it) will get you to a one-time boot menu. However, USB devices won't be offered as boot devices unless Samsung Fast Boot is disabled in the BIOS. So I doubt if you will get very far,

Are you 100% sure that the problem is a corrupted BIOS? Bad RAM or sick electronics on the HDD can stop the BIOS getting as far as the boot screen. In may be worth removing those and seeing if there is any sign of life.

In that case I think it needs to go back to Samsung to fix. You are probably still within the one year warranty unless you have a receipt that proves otherwise. The first power on date is stored in the CMOS but no one can see that if the computer won't boot. Another clue is that the manufacturing month should be printed on the bottom of the computer. If the date is 2012 then the computer hasn't yet been in use for a year.

you may be able to create a recovery usb with "wincris.exe" and your bios file. I had a series 5 that this solution worked for. I belive the key press to get it to load the bios from the usb stick was fn+esc . if I remember correctly I had to extract a .wph file from the bios and it was a pain to find a tool that did it, but I would start by googling wincris.exe

I have the exact same problem with the exact same machine. The Samsung bios update program bricked my machine. Should I extract the .wph file from the Samsung bios update program, then use wincris.exe to try and recover?

EDIT: I managed to find CRISDISK, but I can't get an actual copy of the bios file for my machine anywhere. I've tried a lot, even using a hex editor on the samsung bios update program to see if I could find a download link. Any ideas where I could find the file, or is there a kind soul who could give me a copy of their bios file?

I find it unlikely that you could break it worse or void the warranty in this manor, so why not?

That would normally be the solution, but the program checks to see if the machine it is running on is a samsung machine before downloading the BIOS. Because I don't have another one readily available, this becomes very difficult. What I'm needing is the actual bios file, the .wph file.

I had the exact same problem as well and had to send it back to get it fixed. I bought mine at john lewis so they fixed it with no grief. Got it back with all the data in tact but no info regarding what the fault was. I think they may have replaced my hard drive and used some sort of image. Since then I have had quite a few problems - particularly with the usb bus malfunctioning (usb 3 devices only work if i simultaneously plug in a usb 2 device for example) and some noticeable stalling. Going to take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement.

AQSTech.com does this BIOS repair for about 100 bucks plus shipping. Thats only if Samsung doesn't fix it for free..
