Loaded Windows 7 upgrade on a new R780 and it seems to have knocked out the wireless adapter - red X over the connection icon, not recognzing wireless (just bluetooth)...similar seems to have happened on other models..? whats the solution?

Did you study this R580 wireless thread? The hardware is very similar but note that Samsung use more than one (Realtek and Atheros) wireless adaptors.

i've searched for C:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\athrx.sys and C:\windows\system32\drivers\vwifibus.sys and neither are found - i know it has a wireless driver though as with first setup with w7 Home Premium it was working fine.

In the Device Manager, the only Network Adapters listed are Bluetooth and under Other Devices, Ethernet and Network Controller, both with a yellow '!' triangle...properties on Network Controller says 'drivers for this device are not installed code 28' and advises to update drivers to find one...have done the search and no luck, 'cannot find driver softwarefor your device'

    1. Does the BIOS list the type of wireless adaptor?

    2. A red X in device manager usually indicates that the device is disabled. Is there are hardware switch or key combination which switches the wireless device on and off?

i've tried to find out the type of adapter but as none is recognised, it can't of course tell me...its an escher circle!

there is a red X over the connection icon in the taskbar, but the wireless light is lit on the computer itself...as far as i am aware, there isn't a switch, but someone has alerted me to a driver on samsung support website - i'm going to see if a cable connection will link it up to download that...fingers crossed...
