i am really satisfied with my new 770z5e BUT one thing drives me little crazy ... its the brightness level adjustment of the backlit keyboard.

independent which brightness level from off to max i choose via Fn-keys or easy settings (which i can do just as admin not as simple user??!) it always goes back to mid-level, which is not bright enough for my taste and moreover you notice an ANNOYING sound (not too loud but still). if you go to max level the sound disappears.
i even cannot switch it off! it always comes back again ... grrr

i have managed to disable nasty adaptive brightness, which frequently dimmed the display. this seems to have no effect on the backlit keyboard??!
changing ambient light or simply waiting some time

    so far i have ....
    1) switched off adaptive brightness options in windows power settings, intel power settings and easy settings
    2) changed the startup type of "Adaptive Brightness Service" (called via services.msc) to disabled.
    3) adjusted level in easy settings to max, which works, but automatically goes back to lower level ....
    4) deinstalled "light sensor" in device manager (shows up if you choose show hidden devices) ... no effect (anyhow after reboot its installed again - there is no option deactivate just deinstall)

where does it save the level of brightness adjusted via Fn or easy settings? in registry?
which service overrides those settings and kills manual settings?

    any suggestions are really welcome!!!

ps: i have exchanged the hdd by an ssd on my own so i cannot send it back any more.

You will find more discussion of this issue in other threads about this model and the NP780Z5E. At this time the easiest fix seems to be a small piece of black tape over the light sensor (near the webcam). The control appears to be at a very low level.

Unless you have damaged something in the process of doing the swap, consider your warranty still valid provided you put the HDD back. Samsung do not make a forensic examination of computers sent for service but their warranty covers the hardware they supplied.

PS: This post suggests turning off the control in the BIOS. It may be worth investigating.

Thx John for your reply ... black tabe does not work for me ... backlit lights up all the time and i connot switch it off (comes back again and again)

in the meanwhile i was able to deactivate "sensors" in device control. i renamed the driver in system32 and driverstore folder (sensorsalsdriver.inf and dll) to prevent automatic reinstallation. worked fine since i could deactivate the senosr completely. BUT IT STILL WORKS. maaaaaaan how can it happen??

no option in latest BIOS what i have seen ....
