    Hi!

I'd like to run OSX86 on my Samsung r700 but I need the older 04SR BIOS in order for the internal display to work. There are no older BIOS's for the r700 on any of Samsung's sites.

Would anyone know where I could get this from?

Is there not a good, free archive of BIOS files (for Samsung and others) anywhere?

    Thanks!

    Dan

i don't know of a site with an archive of older Samsung material. There used to be a reasonable collection of drivers and firmware for the older models at samsungpc.com but that site seems to have been shut down.

The BIOS listed on the Samsung download site is SR03NR. Is that newer or old than what you have?

    Hi John!

    Thanks for your quick response!

Where exactly on the Samsung site is that BIOS listed or how did you find that BIOS? It sounds like its older than mine so it could do the trick. I've followed your link and I found several NP700 laptops listed but not my exact model which is NP-R700-AS07UK.

    Thanks for your help!

Go to the link I provided and select Computer and Notebook in the first and second boxes then wait for the list in the Model Code box to be loaded. Click on the NP-R700 is about 1/4 of the way down (the list is in alphabetical order) and press the Find It button. This will load a list of drivers. Click on the firmware tab and you will see the available BIOS. The file is called 20081001142619531_10SR03NR_WIN.exe. You can assume that all versions of the R700 use the same BIOS.

OK, thanks for clarifying that John.

The version number on the Samsung global site is actually 10SR03NR. I'm running 10SR now. Ideally I'd be able to locate 04SR which is known good for running a R700 Hackintosh and I messaged someone who claims to have found 06SR earlier. Maybe that will be early enough, if they still have a copy?
