    Hi guys
    its nice to be here.
Well this a weird one to me but can you explain for me why! I have a samsung NP-x20 and the power module burnt out on the board and when i took it apart i broke the pins on the keyboard connector to the MB. so ive decided to get second hand x20 of the same S/N number but it had bezels missing but worked fine. Obviosly it was to take the bezels of mine and put it onto the one that worked and so i would have a nice working notebook. The problem came to me trying to put on the bezel from my laptop optical dvd/RW to the working one. It was a different front on the optical drive yet it said the same things and looked exactly the same?? The only thing i can do now is take out the optical drive completely and replace the one in the working notebook! I dont now how to do this so any help you can give is a must:

    Model: NP-X20C000/SUK
    S/N: 952893DY2002420
(this is mine that dosent work)

I just thought it was strange that there arew to different optical drives in what seems an identical notebook.
    Cheers

It is quite common for one model of a notebook to use different HDDs, optical drives, etc. It depends on availability / price during the production period. Bezels on optical drives produced in the last 5 years or so are interchangeable, but yours probably just pre-dates that.

Optical drives usually have a fixing bracket screwed to the unit which is held in by one screw usually under the keyboard or on the bottom of the computer. It is usually about 5" / 12cm in from the side of the computer.

It seems like i`ll not find a bezel for my x20 then ... and i was gonna git to him for a xmas pressie. It would have looked brand new if i had the right bezel to attach to the dvd/cd player/writer ...bummer. Is there a booklet on how to remove the dvd drive on this particular model cos there 3 screws underneath 2 on oneside of the memory panel and one on the other. all saying KBD on ithem... not one saying dvd or a spinning disk on it???..or could you tell me how to remove the drive. (very new to laptops) since there is no obvious signs of the dvd/cd removal ??
Thankyou guys for all the help.

It's most likely that the optical drive screw is under the keyboard (that's where it was on the X60). There's something in the photos in this thread which also contains the X20 disassembly instructions.
