    Hi,

does anyone know if this is doable ?

On the surface, the speedup manager simply switch the power plan(to power saver if I choose silent mode) but if I do it myself, I can feel/listen that the fan still run at the chosen power plan(by the silent mode). Not so if I use the speedup manager(Fn+F8). It would still occasionally turn on depending on temperature but obviously not all the time.

That I believe is because samsung change some setting in the speedup manager but it is not in the power plan.

I don't think the Speedup Manager changes the fan speed. It changes the temperatures at which the fan changes speed, at least for the "Silent mode" in which the temperature is two or three degrees higher than in the normal mode. In my experience, the silent mode is never completely silent. the fan still comes on, but less frequently.

It should be possible to disassemble the Speedup Manager software and work out what data are being written where (this is how I8Kfangui was developed), but that is a specialised task. Does any Samsung owner have these software skills?

ah, my lousy english. It was the temperature threhold that I wanted to say.

What is also strange is that I cannot find the package on Samsung's site. Meaning if I reinstall Vista from a retail, I lose this feature.

Though on my R40plus it does seem to stop completely but passing cooling don't seem to able to remove heat fast enough so it would still come up.

That is better than standard setting though as at least I have some moment of close to absolute silent.

My Vista upgrade disc covers several notebooks including the Q35 and R40 but has only one version of the Easy Speedup Manager (2.0.0.8).

It is interesting that the Samsung download site does not have Speedup Manager for either the R20 or the R40plus. Could it be included in the Battery Manager, Magic Keyboard or Display Manager packages?
