    Greetings all

I've got an r700 laptop, which i downgraded from vista to xp, now i never tried this when it had vista on, but i am currently unable to alter the brightness with the fn key, but i seem to be able to make use of the other fn keys eg wireless. The only way to alter it is to either plug it in to the mains (in which case it is full brightness), or unplug it (then its low).

I've altered the brightness setting in the bios (can't remember the EXACT) setting it was but it was the only one mentioning brightness, something like allow user control of brightness.

    Any help much appreciated

    thanku!

Did you install the Samsung software such as Easy Display Manager and Magic Keyboard? They are here. I think one of them intercepts the Fn key commands and takes the necessary action.
