I just bought a x360, but the touchpad seems to be acting up occasionally.
Every so often, it will just freeze up and stop responding for a short amount of time. When it freezes, the rest of the computer works fine, and if I use a USB mouse, it will respond perfectly. These freezes range from mere seconds to minutes. I've tried uninstalling reinstalling and updating the synaptics driver to no long-term success. I was wondering if this is software or hardware related, or if anyone else had similar problems. Thanks.

I have had mine for about a week and have had no problems like that. The only thing is that when I visit Youtube, the touchpad scrolling doesn't work, and this happened with my old Lenovo S10 too which was also Synaptics.

What sort of OP do you have running on it? Maybe a Vista glitch ... I have seen many things happening in Vista that I just have no explanation for. XP is not perfect by any means, but maybe a Vista driver problem. I wonder if you can disable the scroll at all, who knows if it will help

I do have vista on it, but I've run vista fine with my old laptop, which I am currently using. The problem seems to go beyond just visiting Youtube for me, can happen even when I just have a word processor running. I got into contact with Samsung Customer Support, who said they'd get tech support to get back to me, but who knows when that'll be. Worst case scenario, I'll have to ship it back to Amazon and eat the 15% restocking fee for a return.

I strongly suspect that it is software, not hardware. However, first make sure you have the latest BIOS since that includes the low-level end of the input driver.

Then try disabling the animated touchpad option (if it is available). That caused me problems a few years ago.

You could also try disabling other touchpad options.
