My NC10 had been working OK since I bought it in Jan 09 but I hadn't used it much. Today I thought I had better use the Samsung recovery program that backs up the C drive onto D which was set up on the default 50/50 partition from new.
The program did a full back up of the 17GB C drive and then re booted. I noticed that it was running very slow and also that the D partition was empty and a widow came up asking me if I wanted to format it. I shut it down in the normal way and started it again and now it wont boot up. I just get the black boot up options screen with a horizontal segment progress bar at the bottom which gradually moves across and then some text flashes on the screen and then goes back to the boot options screen. Sometimes I get the windows logo with the blue progress bar but after a few minutes it goes back to the boot options. I have tried booting in normal, last good config and safe mode. Once i got a screen saying auto check prog not found then crashed back again. Can anybody help please

I still haven't found a solution to this. I disabled the auto restart on system failure and got these error codes *** STOP: 0X0000007B(0XF7A2E524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000). Im running XP SP3 with 1 GB Ram and the model is NP-NC10KA03UK
Do you think I should try F4 Samsung recovery solution In the book it says, "In quick restore mode there is basic restore which it says restores the major windows files only while maintaining the user config and data on the C drive." Then if that doesn't work it says run complete restore which deletes the entire C drive and restores the content of the C drive, presumably taking it back to day one.
Given the way the problem occurred do you think the basic restore might take back to the point I tried to do a full back up above. Should I try to run the chekdisk. Any hep on this appreciated -
I ended up after talking to Samsung using the Recovery Solution III. I tried doing a basic restore which didn't work and then doing a complete restore which took me back to day one but after the HDD had been partitioned 50/50. I am now installing the programs I want to bring it back to where it crashed and then I intend to make a compete backup onto an external HDD. My question is on my D partition there are recovery solution files totaling 14.3 GB User1.w01,w02,w03,wcI,woo. Can you tell me what these are and can I safely delete them bearing in mind the above.

Once you have got the computer running again I suggest you delete those old backup files. They may contain the problem which caused the BSODs.
One tip: I always remap My Documents to a drive other than C: Then, if there's a problem and C: has to be wiped and reinstalled, the user files don't get wiped as well.

Thanks for the tip. I have Acronis True Image v 11 and a external HDD. I want to make a full back up of my C drive onto the external HDD. Does you know if I will be able to boot up my NC10 Samsung netbook with a USB flash drive to use Acronis in case of something going wrong again.

Check out the Acronis TI review mentioned here. There is reference to a USB-related bug. Also, you should experiment with the art of making a bootable flash drive. I've never succeeded, but I've never tried very hard.

Thanks for that, I'm going to look into the other brands mentioned like the Norton Ghost v14
Wont boot up
