    Hi

I managed to get the Samsung Update package for the Win8.1 Brightness patch program.
    >>> View attachment Win8.1 Brightness patch program 1.0.0.1.zip <<<

    Here are the steps:
    1. Unzip and install the patch (or get it by yourself, see below)
    2. Hit WINDOWS+R and type "services.msc".
    3. Look for "SW Update Service". Go into its properties. Stop it and, then, make its startup type to "manual"
    4. Reboot after install for it to take effect.

Note 1 : Step 3 is to prevent the system to install the old graphic drivers. But if you still have SW Update installed, for one reason, it enables itself later.
Note 2 : Not sure if that has an impact but, if you want to remove the S Agent, see below.

    Why did I do that?
I find SW update to be a pain in the bumpy part of your back. Especially with Samsung not updating its drivers (last graphic drivers date from september 2013 even that Intel released updates meanwhile, and other drivers are also out of date). And to be sure to be annoying, the little program updates my graphic drivers backward without asking my permission...
So I looked for a way to get it and found it (see below). I'm so glad that I wanted to share it with you. I saw so many people with that problem, please spread the fix files.

    How did I do that?
This zip comes directly from the SW Update tool. It's unavailable to download through the tool (unlike other drivers and programs).
I had an idea : when downloading, SW update may put zip files somewhere before installation and delete them after. I searched through my computer to found this folder in "C:\Users\[YOURNAME]\AppData\Local\Temp\SWM2Temp\Compresses".
You got to be quick. As the patch is light (0.5 Mo), it downloads quickly, install quickly and disappear quickly. I managed to select it and move it on another folder before it disappeared. You can get it that way if you don't trust (which I would understand as I created my account to post this file).

    The "S Agent" problem
The S Agent (visible in the taskbar, near the clock) seems to be the notification program.
You can't uninstall it or prevent its loading with tools such as CCleaner. But you'll fin in the Task Scheduler a line named "S Agent" :)

    Enjoy!

edit 16/07 : discovered some new things on how samsung's crapware works, modified the initial post

    Hi

    Did you try after rebooting?
I forgot to tell that in my initial post.

    Let me understand this properly.

All this patch does is set FeatureTestControl to F908 for Intel... correct?

Thanks Virgincola for this great fix tutorial. I tried this in Windows 10 and it worked!. Not sure why Samsung wouldn't provided this file as downloadable. I guess it would also work for other Intel computer and not just Samsung. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

Samsung SW Update does list the Brightness patch as a download for Windows 10 for some models (eg NP880Z5E-X02UK (one I checked at random)). However, the patch is not listed for Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.
