    Hi everyone,

My RF711 was working fine for a long time, using Win 7 and a Devolo dlan 500 AV Plus Powerline LAN adapter. I use 7 or 8 Devolo Powerline Adapters and normally have no problems with them.

I think it all started when I decided to play Civ V via Steam on my laptop, which required to take it off the LAN and use it wirelessly, as I connected it downstairs to the TV. When I took it back up and after I installed Motioninjoy freeware I noticed that it took much longer to obtain an IP Adress with LAN (ie the devolo powerline adapter). So far so bad. After a while of being unable to get an IP address at all, I managed to get one yesterday night again. Only to wake up this morning to find that my Internet was achingly slow, even though I was connected via LAN. Internet is fine via WLAN. Another laptop I use via LAN downstairs is as fast as ever and has no problems with the internet.

I have reset the router, updated the firmware, no change. I have tested the Devolo power adapter in my office upstars, where I had the problem, and sure enough, every single power outlet has the tiny internet speed, whereas when I connect the adapter in the bathroom next door the speed is fast and without problems.

So I thought it has to do with the devolo powerline adapters and called Devolo support, who promptly got me to pair (ie press the encryption key at the bottom) the "faulty" LAN adapter with a working one, with the net result that both don't work now.

I have not changed anything in my office, except download MotioninJoy drivers and play CIV V via steam. However, there appears to be a problem, in that my LAN in my office does not work anymore. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

Have you tried the powerline adapter with another computer? We need to pin down where the problem is.

If it is with the adapter then the networking forum will be a better place for your search for suggestions.
