we recently bought the Samsung RV511 laptop - there seems to be a whooshing noise coming from the speakers (i made sure it was the speakers by testing if i could mute and adjust the volume). It is a rhythmic whoosh, or paper tearing noise, that happens about 8 seconds apart from each other. It doesn't happen constantly, but sometimes it will start making these noises for a while. It doesn't seem to be connected to any open applications/websites? Does anyone know what this is or how to make it stop??

    Thanks for your help

Your initial tests suggest that you can change the volume of the sound which suggests that it is caused by a program. Iwould first want to exclude the possibility that the noise is being created by a sound within a program. The starting place would be go to Sounds in Control Panel. Save your existing sound profile and then select No Sounds.
