    Hi there,

I bought a Samsung NP550P5C-A08UK for the bargain price of £520, unfortunately I found once I received it that it was the model without any dedicated graphics, instead it just has the Intel HD graphics.

My question is this, can I upgrade the graphics by putting a dedicated graphics card in it at some point myself?

If not then I'll probably return it and pay another £100 for the model with a graphics card.

    Thanks

Unfortunately there are only a very few laptop manufacturers that make machines that the graphics are upgradable and Samsung isn't one of them, you'll have to return it if you can.

I suspected as much, I used to have an Acer that you could swap out the graphics card but I did think it was a long shot.

Oh well back it goes then I suppose, I thought the price was to good to be true!

    Thanks for the reply though.

That's what I've got and it really depending on the ram & screen resolution. Here in Australia you can get this laptop (with my specs which you can see) at Office Works for £630 or around $950, if that £700 laptop has 1600 x 900 & 8 GB or more of ram it's good.

How do you find performance, I've read a lot of people have been having problems with overheating when playing games?

It compares to other laptops I've owned in performance and although it does get hot when playing games, I've owned other branded laptop which got hotter. I'd also like to say the performance gets better the longer you play (For my laptop I can't speak for other Samsung users), so the heat can't be doing it any harm.

I'd recommend Samsung to anyone looking for a solid laptop & from what I've observed there are far fewer people getting online and complaining about their Samsung Laptop than other brand. I'm really happy with the GT 650m it's better than I believed it would be.

    Goods luck with it.

I've had a good look through that thread, I can't say it's looking to great for that model. I'm also concerned on the quality of the screen

I'm looking at the HP ENVY m6-1178sa as an alternative. Here's a link HP ENVY m6-1178sa 15.6" Laptop Deals | Pcworld

I'm struggling to find any reviews for it at all though, has anybody had any experience with it?
