Hi all,
I would like to upgrade my hard disk (hybrid with SSD cache) to SSD.
What all do I need to consider apart from obvious backup.
I would like to retain the Samsung recovery.
I have 1TB HDD and don't want to clone as I am going for 500 GB SSD due to cost differences.
Any recommendations?
Model: NP530U4C-S01IN
Existing HDD - 1 TB HDD with 24GB ssd cache.
OS: Windows 10

Anyone has any experience of upgrading to SSD in this model? Also which type of SSD can I use?

You need a 2.5" SATA SSD which is no thicker than the HDD you have. Thinner is no problem as the connector and fixing screw holes are on the bottom part of the drive. I have no specific recommendation for particular SSD models. The recent SSDs from the major manufacturers have reasonably similar performance.
However, moving the Samsung recovery over to the new drive may not be easy. You will need the admin tool (which is probably mentioned in the SRS 6 discussion - see the Sticky List at the top of the forum) to set up the recovery partition. I've never tried doing this which is why I hadn't replied to your question.

Thank you John.
I remember that it had SRS 5. I think I have the "Admin tool" which I prepared some months ago. I will try have to then -

Hi @Ripcord999,
I see you found the Guide to Clone or Re-image a New SSD. Unfortunately two of the options listed in in that guide require SRS6: The Disk Copy and Bootable Factory Image Backup features are not available in SRS5.
Since your SRS5 merely contains an old Win7 factory image, and isn't compatible with newer Windows versions anyway, I would say forget about SRS5 at this point and just clean-install Win10 on the new SSD. Then use whichever backup tools you like, without worrying about the quirks of SRS.
If you prefer having SRS available for new backups, you can follow the excellent guidance in member @Gulfmaster's thread here to create a new SRS6/Win10 setup. You'll have to use the Admin Tool linked in that thread.
