My brother got a laptop for his birthday and asked me what kind of upgrade options do I have with this machine? He wants to be able to play games online and etc. Do I have any upgrade options with this? I don't even see a legitimate video card!

You can't change the Intel HD graphics but you could probably upgrade the CPU which might help the Intel graphics run slightly faster. An SSD would improve general performance.

I see, is it because they are integrated into the motherboard? What kind of CPUs would work for this?

The Intel GPU is actually part of the CPU package and there will be no socket on the mainboard for a separate GPU.

Other dual core CPUs in the Arrandale family should work. However, study the benchmark results at notebookcheck to see the likely impact of a CPU swap on performance. I would do an SSD upgrade prior to investing in a faster CPU. You would need to have a speed boost of more than 25% for it to be noticeable.

I have a R580, not so sure if the MB is the same, anyway my CPU is an i5-520, that pretty better than that i3!

Nevertheless mine has also an GPU Nvidia 330m... but this I am sure that you cant do anything about it.

It can be done, by buying a new mainboard with the dedicated GPU. However, it would most likely be cheaper to sell the current computer and buy a new one.

Yeah, I think selling it would be a better move for sure but as it is now, I think the processor upgrade would be something that needs to be done. I just don't have the time to sell it...
