I'm trying to replace the 128GB m.2 SSD on my NP930X5J with a larger m.2 disk, and after having pulled my hair quite a bit I have finally been able to locate the drive on the mother board.

But I cannot access it, as it's tucked away under a plate whose purpose is unknown to me. Supposedly, it's possible to remove this plate, but I can't for the life of me figure out how. The plate is labelled "Alvin-Bridge Rev1.0" and has the letters "HF" written on it, as described in the review that explains how to switch ssds here ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Edition-15-6-Inch-Touchscreen-Mineral/product-reviews/B00J49ZGY8 )

However, unlike the plate describe in the review I can't find any screws that holds it in place. There's padding on the edges, and I've removed these in case they cover the screws, but they don't.

These are photos of the plate and the computer internals. In the first one you can see the original SSD under the plate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are there screws under the black tape? Also be aware of the little black clips pointed out by the yellow arrows.
The purpose of that plate seems to be to connect the two main parts of the motherboard together. Be gentle with the connectors as mentioned in the Amazon review you linked.

Looking at a post here ( Samsung NP930X5J / NP940X5J ATIV Book 9 (2014) 15.6" Haswell announced Jan 6, 2014) it seems that the HF plate might not have any screws though.

There's nothing under the black tape/padding on the edges of of the plate/bridge. I've pulled it off on both sides, and there's just solid plate underneath.

I've been trying to figure out the purpose of the clips that the arrows point to, but have been unable to determine if they have anything to do with the plate, even though the fact that the arrows are printed on the actual plate might be a clue that that's the case.

I've tried pressing them in and gently rocking the plate, but it still seems to be firmly attached to the motherboard. This might still be the way to remove it, but I'm reluctant to use too much force, so until I'm sure what I'm doing I guess I'd better not.

I thought of perhaps removing the entire motherboard and get at the SSD from the bottom of it, but it seems like risky business. Judging by how various ports and slots, and even wiring from the lid hinges are attached and cover the motherboard, I doubt the designers intended it to ever be removed.

No, I don't think you will be able to remove the motherboard and SSD without removing that bridge. What if you just use your fingernail and lift under the black tape right underneath on the edge of the board, across from the SUB/MAIN text? You will need to lift the plug straight up out of the socket. When you lift it up in the middle longways, it should really just snap out of the socket.

Some members with this notebook have replaced their SSDs. I got the impression that the plate over the SSD just pulls off but, if you are in doubt, then you will have to wait until one of those people confirms the removal process.

There may be a better chance of existing owners seeing this if posted in the NP930/940X5J Owners Thread, previously linked by namaiki. Many owners follow and receive notification on Owners threads, but may not notice a new thread.

I AM A GOLDEN GOD OF... well, actually, not too sure about that. But I did solve my problem.

I followed namaiki's suggestion and was able to pry off the bridge. So, it wasn't hard at all once I knew how.
Thanks everyone, for your time and help!

For future visitors who might come here looking for a solution, this is what you're dealing with:

So, just use your fingernails or tip of your fingers underneath on the edge of the board by the SUB/MAIN text. Lift it straight up out of the socket, rocking it gently, and it should snap right off.
