So I've had the Series 7 Chronos, S01UK 15 inch etc model for about 2 months. Today it has suddenly decided the screen is going to turn everything that is white, into a cyan colour!

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Obviously I am going to send it in - I've also had regular 'the display driver has crashed and recovered' messages after returning from sleep/hibernate, so I assume there's something pretty critical going wrong here. Should I request a brand new model?

I'm considering asking for a refund... loads of people seem to be having problems with it. If only there was something equivalent :(

Does the blue tint also show on the BIOS screen of if you boot Windows into Safe Mode. If so, that indicates a basic hardware problem. If those screens don't have a blue tint then it's a driver problem.

    Thank you for your reply.

I have booted into Safe Mode and the same issue exists. I don't understand how the hardware can have failed ALREADY? This is evidently an extremely poorly produced product. It's such a shame because I love everything else; the design, the speed, backlit keys, weight, and I didn't even mind the screen until now.

I really don't know what to do. I have a feeling this could cause me more problems in the future and my head is telling me to get a refund, but that would leave me without a laptop for a while and I can't see any equivalent models available in the UK :(

I also can't think of a good reason for the blue tint to suddenly appear. One long shot is to see if the is a newer BIOS available. The BIOS controls a lot of hardware defaults and maybe something got messed up. I think the white LEDs used for the backligting tend to have a blue tint which must be corrected somehow. Otherwise you need to send it in. Someone recently indicated that an improved model might be appearing around mid-month although, until we get feedback from users we won't know what has changed.

Are you talking about the blue hue that normally appears unless some of the samsung 'easy' apps are running? Or something different?

No. It has nothing to do with easy settings. It doesn't affect everything, just the white areas.

Samsung have annoyed me, want me to reformat the PC when its obviously a hardware error! Why can't they just fix the bloody components. May just get onto John Lewis as they have far superior customer service.

If you can convince them that the text on the BIOS screen also has a blue tink then you might be able to avoid that hassle. Reformat and reinstall is most manufacturers' requirment. It may be a hassle to the customers but a lot of the problems disappear.
