    Hello there

I'm still thinking about buying the hi-specced X60. I know i've been thinking about it for such a long time, most people will say 'just go out and get it over with' but i have just another question.

Will the T2500 15.4 WSXGA handle windows vista ok, or will it require some upgrading.

    Many thanks for your answers.

    Jamie

Some days ago I read the specs required to run Windows Vista with different configs..
I recon my X60 (T2300 w/ X1600) seemed to be OK to run the highest config, Vista Premium (contains the Aero interface)...
But you should take this with a grain of salt & pepper - as always.

I think the specs required to run Windows Vista won't be that high as Microsoft is telling at the moment.
Anyway, it takes another couple of time after the real release date to make the whole thing running perfectly.

It seems that you will need a hybrid HDD to run the Mobile version of Vista http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32404 .

I waited a couple of years after XP came out before considering moving from Windows 2k I would expect the same to apply with Vista. The normal rule of thumb is to wait until after Microsoft have released SP1. By this time you will probably be on your next notebook.

You will be fine running Vista with Aero Glass. The minimum requirements are met even with an integrated Intel GM950; ATI's X1600 is more than adequate.

A number of friends and colleagues already have Vista Beta running on their laptops. Mobile Vista is for the next generation of Tablet PCs and for ordinary laptops.

Sorry for temporarily hijacking the thread, but BGM where did you actually get the X60 from? As far as I can tell it is out of stock in the whole of the UK (assuming you are from the UK) ...

There's 30 of the mid-range X60 at Insight http://uk.insight.com/apps/productp...ch=C=102&S=1015&M=SA&P=&search_type=&K=&PS=50 (this now has the T2400 rather than the T2300 which was standard a couple of months ago).

I have called both of those places up, they don't have the high-end model in stock right now. I have actually called every single web site that comes in google.co.uk.

I myself have now placed an order with a local shop that will go directly to Samsung. Fingers crossed for the promised 5 day delivery.
