I finally got widi/miracast AND my laptop brightness working on my win 8.1 ativ book 7 ultrabook thanks to this forum.

But now, my laptop keeps updating my graphics driver automatically on me so my widi/miracast ends up not working again.

I already turned off autoupdates in windows update settings. Is there somewhere else I have to turn off auto updates?

I looked at swupdates but couldn't find an option for doing that.

    Thanks.

I've never had SW Update automatically update something without my approval. It just periodically reminds me that updates are available.

Does your SW Update behave differently?

Same here, SW Update never installed anything behind my back. In fact, it never shows me anything unless I manually open it. I disabled sAgent in Task Scheduler (Control Panel - Administrative Tools).

But other members have reported that SW Updated would install updates behind their back. I wonder if it somehow uses the Windows Update settings to decide whether updates should happen automatically. I have my Windows Update set to check for updates, but let me choose when to install them.

Oddly, miracast/widi is still working this time even with the automatic update (whole reason I didn't want the autoupdates). So I don't mind the auto updates anymore.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys.
