These are basically the matte-screen versions of the silver and black ATIV Book 8. For some reason I cannot find them in BestBuy or Amazon, new, used or refurbished. I can't even find them on Google Shopping.

Yet, they have the touchscreen versions, NP880Z5E and NP780Z5E, available everywhere.

What's going on? Is Samsung forcing the glossy, laptop-thickening, battery-draining touchscreen on their customers? Or they're upgrading the matte-screen versions to Haswell??

It's been more than 6 months that 770Z5E has been removed from retailers in Europe and lately (since late December) the 870Z5E has been extremely rare to find over here. There are still some overpriced leftovers of the touch version (880). I guess the US market will follow which is no surprise, as an update has started appearing in European websites (I think Germany).
The Haswell update however seems to be a downgrade rather than an upgrade from the previous version (GT750m, i7-4702), so maybe that's why the stock of the previous models has disappered in no time.

Yes NP770Z5E never came to Croatia ,but what is really weird it came to Slovenia at the end of November(2013).Two days ago i saw how 900X4C literally disappeared from Amazon and 20 other stores.I would really like to know what Samsung doing.Do they retreat laptops from distributors.
    And answer to your question:

Is yes.Why ,probably only 10% of us dont want touch. You need to understand, people hearing constant about Windows 8 and touch and they want to have it ,even if they didnt think will that work like on tablet.
