The screen has become damaged on my Series 7 Chronos. Rather than replacing the screen, I have decided to sell the laptop. I have removed the hard drive as it contains my personal data.

I want to enter the BIOS to wipe the 8gb SSD with DBAN. However when plugging the Chronos into my external monitor via HDMI, an image does not show on the monitor.. and so I am unable to wipe the 8gb SSD. It displays everything on the broken laptop screen

Is there any way that I can get it to display on my external monitor?

    Thanks

Some on other sites has overcome similar issues by using a VGA cable instead. Got to do with of the resolution of the bios, maybe you might get lucky.

Just tried it with a VGA cable. My Chronos has this mini port (I don't know what it is), and it comes with a VGA adapted that you plug into that port

I tried it on both my monitor and my HDTV. They get a signal (i.e, the option to select VGA comes up, when it was previously greyed out).. however when I select VGA on the monitor/HDTV... I just get a blank screen

My goal is to format the expresscache as I want to sell the laptop. Can I just do this?:

    - Reinstall hard drive
    - Boot into windows
    - Disable expresscache with the samsung softawre that can do this
    - Format express cache (twice to be sure)
    - Remove hard drive
    - Sell laptop

    Thanks!

When I saw your post last night, I thought to myself I would suggest exactly that. Sorry it took a whole day before I got to my PC. Yes, re-install the HDD and use Windows to wipe the iSSD.

You can disable ExpressCache in Easy Settings or un-install the ExpressCache software outright and delete the partition using Windows Disk Manager.
