I'm having this problem (since I had problems with Ubuntu)... I have a series 5 notebook (NP530U4C), I still have the disc partitioned as it came from factory. Active partition is SYSTEM (where boot sector is, I think...), can boot into recovery, everything's ok.

Install windows 8, no problem, works without a hitch. Make a system image backup with SRS5, windows boots normally.

BUT if I restore to that same image, a BOOTMGR IS MISSING / PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL message appears! Then I have to use Windows 8 CD to repair and boot normally.

Do you know what might be the problem? I dont's understand why by simple recovering to a complete image system backup does this (doesn't happen if I return it to the factory image, which is windows 7).
