Hi I just bought a Samsung laptop (model: NP700Z5AH-NP700Z5A-S0AUS) with an Intel hd graphics 300 and an AMD Radeon HD 6750M. The laptop is overall great but it has a very annoying problem.

When I watch full screen video (usually when the background is dark) the contrast/brightness of the screen fluctuates randomly. This happens in media player, kmplayer and even utube. The screen flickers only when the laptop is running on battery. If I plug it in the flickering stops immediately.

I have updated the display drivers and I have spent countless hours changing the settings but I cannot fix it and it is driving me nuts!

I have read that this is a known issue for the intel hd graphics. They even have a driver that clearly states that it resolves this issue. However, I cannot install this driver because my laptop does not allow installation of non OEM drivers (and actually I don't want to use a non OEM driver because it may ruin something else).

I have also read in several forums that the issue can be fixed if one disables the "Display Power Saving Technology" setting from the Intel graphics and media control panel -> power -> power source: on battery. However, my laptop does NOT have that setting at the Intel control panel (see Picture).

Please provide some help. Thanks.

Here is the screenshot of the intel control panel when I select "on battery".

Are you sure the varying light coming from your screen is not adjusting the brightness via auto-brightness control? That's the only thing I can think of. Disable the auto-adjust.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I am positive that it is not the auto-brightness. I have it disabled.

Hey there, did you ever figure out how to fix this? I have the EXACT same problem - I have a chronos and I know that disabling the display power saving technology will fix the problem, but I don't have the option. I'd be eternally grateful if you did solve it and could tell me how!

Nope! I have not found the solution. I just learned to live with it. Sorry. :(

    Hey,

I had the same annoying issue with my work laptop and i lived with it until power issues started cropping up.

All i did is roll backed my display driver and then updated it again from the web..... and wow it worked!!!!!

    I have some suggestions:

    1. Have you tried right-clicking on the desktop and then going to "Graphics Properties"?
you can access the power settings from there.

    2. If you don't have the graphics properties link, search for Intel HD Graphics in the control panel. It should bring up the same screen.

    3. Check your power options, you might have a control for HD graphics there.

    4. I've updated to a non-oem driver on my Samsung NP550-P5C laptop and have had no problems so far.

    Cheers!

In control panel search ''graphic'' and you will see intel hd graphics right there, after opening it disabling power save solved my problem.
