The screen brightness of my Samsung X460 lowers suddenly after only a few minutes or even seconds without touching anything. I looked in the power saving menu and changes some things, but I have not been able to switch this of or at least to postpone the moment when this 'screen saver' gets activated. Could someone help me? Kind regards.

Does this happen when running on mains or on battery? If it is when running on battery then it is probably Samsung battery manager at work. This has an option to dim the display backlight and is separate to the Windows power management option to turn the backlight off completely. I don't think the auto-dim should work when running on mains.

Thank you very much for the answer!! I tried to open this Samsung program, but I didn't manage. Nevertheless, I just uninstalled it and now my screen doesn't turn dark anymore after a minute of not touching any key :) I don't understand why Samsung has this additional program if Windows already has all these settings in the power plans. For the rest my X460 is really great!

Try reinstalling the latest version of the Samsung Battery Manager.

The facility to drop the backlight to the minimum brightness without turning the display off completely is not, I believe, offered by Vista.
