    Hi All

I'm looking into buying the R700. On Laptopsdirect they offer a pre delivery inspection for £40 to check dead pixels. After looking into it more, I found out that Samsung have a zero dead pixel policy that only applies to South Korea. Is this still the case?

If so is it worth me buying this inspection? Or should I do without?

    Cheers

    Matt

I can't find a dead pixel policy specifically for notebooks, but they say this for TVs.

Of the several Samsung notebooks that have passed through my hands, one has suffered a dead pixel. That was black and looked like a spec of dirt on the screen. It took me several weeks to notice it. A bright red pixel, on the other hand, can be annoying.

I would estimate that your chances of having a problem pixel are less than 10% and, if you encounter one, you could always return the computer according to your rights under the distance selling legislation.

Hands up all the people who have had a pixel problem!

Yeah, dead pixels are pretty much something that you'll eventually run into if you're going to be purchasing an LCD... Usually, you probably won't have any at first (like me), but then 3-4 months later one or two might pop up. That's what happened to me and my laptop's LCD. At first it got annoying, but I eventually got used to 'em and now I don't even notice that they're there....
