Howdy Folks- been googling all evening and can't sort this one.
I have a Samsung series 7 notebook, only a few weeks old. Spent it's whole life on my coffee table Was working fine last night.
Today, when I opened in up, it didn't turn on. The power light is green, it's plugged in. When I press power, the blue power light comes on, a fan starts to spin up, and then it shuts down. I've tried unplugging it, plugging it into different sockets, and holding down the power button for a really really long time.
Is there some magic button combination to reset the CMOS? Is there something I should do? Where should i look for clues? Or just throw it out and get something more reliable?
Thanks!
Herb

Holding down the power button won't clear anything unless you disconnect the battery (which means removing the base - instructions in another thread).
You also might want to remove the base in order to take out and back up the HDD / remove personal data beofe sending the machine back for repair. so if you do that, also try the battery removal.
Edit: I see that the S9 manual shows a hole in the base into which you push the end of an unfolded paper clip in order to temporarily disconnect the battery. Mybe the S7 has something similar.

Yes, S7 has a pin hole for battery disconnect as I found was required for RAM change to register.

Hey thanks for the quick reply! gonna try this when I get home tonight. do you know the location of the pinhole?
Thanks!

The pinhole is on the bottom of the laptop, DVD tray side, near a screw.
