    I created this account to get more information about what the difference from 7 and 9 is, can someone tell me what I should buy? What I do most on the computer;

    Facebook, twitter, youtube, forums - mostly that to be honest.

    (I need a computer that can watch HD 1080 without any problems!!! Please tell me if 7 or 9 can do this!) I have an ty Toshiba satellite C660D and I want a good computer like samsung series 7 or 9. What is the difference, and are they fast?

    Please answer, and I will be greatful to you.

    I own the 7 and if I was doing this over, I'd likely buy the 9. I travel with mine more than I expected. It's definitely light for such a beast though.

    The advantage of the Series 7 is the dedicated GPU for better 3D graphics such as gaming. If you don't want 3D graphics capability then the Intel graphics of the Series 9 will handle 2D graphics and video playback at the resolution you want.

    The Series 9 fans are not noisy.

    John, what do you think is the best? Samsung series 9 15'' or Samsung series 7 14''? What's most important for me;

    * Not noisy sound from the fan
    * Be fast when searching/etc
    * Handle HD graphic (1080) on youtube etc
    * Style, love thin

    But pease give me your opinion on what is the best, thank you john

    Firstly, when are you planning to buy? I would note that new models of the Series 7 (discussed here) and the Series 9 (discussed here).

    The Series 9 are thinner than the Series 7 and I believe can meet your functional requirements. One advantage of the Series 7 is that it uses a standard 2.5" storage device while the Series 9 uses an mSATA SSD.

    If you are buying imminently then you have a choice between the 13.3" X3 and the 15.0" X4. Both current have 1600 x 900 resolution display but the former uses a PLS (equivalent to IPS) panel with excellent viewing angles. The X3 also uses two fans but the RAM is fixed at 4GB. The X4 has two SODIMM slots (so 16GB is possible) but has only one fan which has to work harder than the two fan solution. The X4 also has a bigger battery and dedicated navigation keys.

    Is your searching on the internet (for which all computers will perform similarly) or local (which probably depends in the SSD / HDD speed)?

    I plan to buy when I have money, I soon have birthday so i'm sure I will get alot of money since that is the only thing I wish and need right now. I have patience, but what will be the difference between the new 9 and 7?

    I tried out the series 7 and it was lovely. I never got the chance to try out 9 because the shop I was in didnt have it, but thin computers are always better in my opinion. Picture of the one I used >>

    English is not my main language so I did not quite understand your last question. Please say it in a simpler note, and once again thank you for taking you time to answer me.

    1) What is your budget?
    So much series 9 and 7 cost.

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    14, 15 or 15,6.

    3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
    At a place called ''Elkjøp/Elkjop'', in Norway.

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    a. Like: Samsung and Apple (ONLY computer, hate iPhone).
    b. Dislike: Toshiba (which I have).

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    No.

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
    School, facebook/twitter/youtube/forums, maybe gaming? Who knows

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
    Of course.

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
    Yes: Unsure, I have a PS3 already but if so then Crysis 3.

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    More than 5.

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
    I have to watch many vids/reviews which I have been doing for a long time now.

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
    Windows 7, Windows 8 seems so childish even if i'm 15.

    12) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
    Of course, a computer with style is a plus and sexy.

    13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    Yeah.

    14) When are you buying this laptop?
    Unsure, from now to june at least (I think next month).

    15) How long do you want this laptop to last?
    4 Years.

    16) How much hard drive space do you need? Do you want a SSD drive?
    Not much to be honest, just enough to have pictures, maps and that kind of stuff.

    17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner?
    Same, just I can watch movies with HD.

    I was trying to understand your search requirement given above. I suspect that you mean internet searching, in which case these computers will all perform similarly, and affected by the quality of the internet connection.

    Regarding your other requirements, if thinner is better then the Series 9 is preferable. They all come with an SSD, which improves performance compared to a HDD, but I recommend 256GB SSD because 128GB does not have much spare space. If you haven't done so, read my review of the NP900X4C which should help you decide between the larger and smaller Series 9. Either model has the same graphics. You can see the gaming capability here (which shows Crysis 2 is OK at low settings - no mention of Crysis 3). The Series 9 does not include a DVD driver which you would need to purchase separately (see this thread).

    I note your preference for Windows 7. Perhaps you should check with your local supplier if any versions of the Series 9 are still available with Windows 7 (they might be less expensive). Otherwise there are options for adding a normal Windows start menu to Windows 8.

    John

    PS: Also see this post by someone who has gone from the Series 7 to the Series 9.
