I just posted a response to a question about the R780. This is the 17.3" equivalent of the R580. Have a read at http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/507031-samsung-r780.html#post6562286. These machines have been popular this year in here in Australia as they came out at a very good price. On another forum I use, there was a lot of discussion of them and no complaints about reliability. The worst complaints were that some people didn't like the keyboard and the battery life for the i5 version was less than three hours.

I have the R580 with the i5 processor. It's more affordable than the HP or Sony models. The fit and finish is xcellent and the screen I find the most brightest.

I've had mine for two months now and LOVE it. It's FAST and looks great too.
I like it better than the Dell XPS and Gateway I had before it.
I also have the matching "touch of red" blackjack II and 26" LCD TV monitor too. Perfect match.
I'll post some pics of it later.

I also have the Dell XPS m1530 w/ the bluray player and it can hold it's own still. The XPS has more features but then again it costed more.

Yes, it cost almost $700 more than the Samsung. A bit overpriced.
I did like the XPS m1530 very much though. I sold mine to my uncle and he is still using it everyday. My sister still has one too.
