    Hi all,

I purchased the samsung q310 last year in December and I am quite happy with it. One thing that I started to notice now is the really short battery life compared to the old times.

When it was new I was able to use / surf on the web for more than 2:30 hours now it seems that the time is reduced to 1:10 / 1:20 hours.

I tried to do the battery calibration but this not give me any visible effect. Is anyone experiencing such loss of battery performance ?

    Regards
    Davide

I recently got a q320, no battery problems so far (3 months). But I remembered there is an option to let the battery charge up to 80% to reduce battery degradation, maybe you have that option turned on and you're not getting full battery charge.

You should download battery info ( http://www.batteryinfo.de.vu/index_en.html) and check your battery wear level. That way you'll be sure its a battery problem and you need a replacement.

I would use the undervolting guide to install RMClock. There is a battery monitoring page which will show both the battery capacity and the power consumption when running on battery. What does this page show?

If the battery has lost a lot of capacity after only a few months then it is time to ask Samsung for a replacement.

    Thanks for the replies.

I checked the battery with Notebook Battery Info as suggested and it gives me a wear level of 41%. Battery is charged 100% at the beginning and dropping quite fast... :(

So now after 11th months of the purchase the battery is lasting just 1.30h in idle mode almost half the duration of the new ones.

I would like to know if there is a change to get a replacement since I am still in one year warranty [anyone experiences such problems] and in case how to deal with samsung customer service. [I don't want to send the laptop which is full of valuable data.]

    Thank you again.

You should only loose around 10% of you battery capacity in the first year unless you use it all the time, if it`s still in warranty get a replacement.

Sent a request support to Samsung. Hopefully will get an answer soon. The warranty is expiring in 15 days. so it should be fine.

If they manage to replace it, I will also opt also for an extension of warranty.

I agree that 41% wear within one year is too much.

Phone or email Samsung support (there is a link to a messaging system on the FAQ page). The latter means you can send the screen dump from RMClock showing the 41% wear.

It doesn't explicitly state wear level but shows design capacity, fully charged capacity and current capacity.

    Hi,

Ive had my Q310 for about 3 years and recently noticed how quick the battery was going, thanks to you guys I found out my wear level was 81% !!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to ask did Samsung simply send out the removable battery pack? And did this solve the problems

    Thanks

Batteries are considered to be consumable parts and normally only have a one year warranty so you will have to buy a replacement. Samsung original batteries tend to be expensive and compatible batteries, such as those sold on ebay, may provide better value for money.
