hi all. Basically I've been given a samsung x460 which has no HDD . I have a sata laptop disk drive but no cable to connect it to the laptop. It looks as if it needs some sort of ribbon cable that connects to the motherboard but I can't find the part anywhere! Is this part likely to be able to be sourced ? Is there a generic part? Or will I only find it when another x460 is being sold for spares?
    cheers guys

Your diagnosis is probably correct. You most likely need a ribbon cable that has an SATA connector on one end (something like this). I don't know if Samsung use the same cable for several of their notebooks (it would simplify their logistics). I would recommend that you contact the Samsung repair agents in your country (they should be listed on your Samsung website). They should have such parts in stock.
