    Hello,

I would like to ask what is the different between:
    - NP-Q35C007 & NP-Q35C008
    - NP-Q35T000 & NP-Q35C001

I compare one of the X11 model with others laptop, display quality is not very good.
    Is it correct?
How about the battery of X11? Some resources in the internet said that it's not good. But when I read the result, it's average. Could someone help to clarify this?

Could someone also try to explain advantage and disadvantage of these models?
I am considering these models against Asus A8Jn / A8Jp.

Thanks a lot. Any opinion will be appreciated.

I can't explain the Q35 model numbers. The two versions currently available in UK are: Q35T006 which has T7200 CPU, 120GB HDD and is normal (silver) colour; andQ35T008 which has T5600 CPU, 100GB HDD and is red.

Regarding the X11 battery life, the standard battery in UK seems to be 4 cell and this might just get past 2 hours of light use. There is an optional 8 cell battery which would add to the weight and may stick out.

The other aspect to consider when comparing weights of notebooks is the PSU. Unfortunately, this information is rarely provided. Some Samsung notebooks come with 60W PSUs, which have a reasonable size and weight while others are provided with 90W PSUs, which are relatively large for what are otherwise lightweight computers (but the hardware may need more than 60W).

    Hope this helps,

    John

    Hello John,

    Thanks for your information.
Do you know how long battery will survive in full power?
How about the display quality of X11?

I can't imagine that it's difficult to find more detail information in Samsung notebook product.
Red Q35 is very tempting. :)

There aren't many review of the X11. When PC Pro (UK) looked at it a few months ago http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/87352/samsung-x11.html they said it was one of the better displays in the group although not as bright as the Apple Macbook or the Sony VGN-C1Z. That review said that they got 3hrs 18 minutes from the batter under light load but only 53 minutes when it was fully loaded. Powerful CPUs do use power when pushed hard (but there's a good chance that you could undervolt it in order to reduce power consumption under load).

There are some reviews of the Q35 on this site and also at PC Pro (previous model with T2300) and here (current red version). The latter review is very positive about the display quality and battery life. The one drawback of the Q35 is the 1.25GB RAM ceiling (there is only one slot - maybe it would take a 2GB module but these are currently expensive).

There is a big difference (about 33% in area) between the size of 12.1" and 14" displays. If you want a big screen and light weight and don't need much CPU power then the last of the Samsung X1s can be found http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/shop/detail.asp?ProductID=3800&CategoryID=11&SubCategoryID=. However, battery life with the standard battery is limited.

Hmm.. It's quite strange, I read from one of the reviews saying that X11 display quality is not good compare to average lcd.
I also tried to see it in the shop and it's not good. In my opinion, it's bad.
There are some black area near the corner when background is blue. I didn't try to set background to white.

I guess that it depends on LCD vendor. AUO or AMLCD. I once download X11 spec which written Gloss AUO, Gloss AMLCD.

53 minutes is not good. Buying 8 cells battery will add 400g (if i am not wrong) and will make it the same weight as Asus A8 series. :(

Btw, new Q35 with standard 1gb memory (512 mb internal memory), will have 1.5GB RAM ceiling.
I finally decided for Q35 :) but unfortunately I have to wait until stock arrived. :( And I hope there will be this new Q35 in Ukraine soon.

I am pulling my hair out waiting for this.

    Thanks for you info, Jason!
