    Hi there,

Please help ! My samsung ultrabook won't continue to boot, the Samsung Logo will flash then it will restart. I tried to boot on Windows Installer (via USB and CD) but the BIOS won't recognized the bootable device. I also tried the recovery mode but after the recovery mode is done, it will go only again on Samsung Logo then it will restart again.

    Hello chovron, welcome to NBR.

We need some basic information in order to better help you:

    1) What is the model number of your computer?

    2) Which Windows version was pre-installed from the factory (this tells us whether it runs UEFI and which version of Samsung Recovery Solution)? Did you re-install Windows or are you running the original installation?

    3) Did you change any BIOS settings at any point?

    A few tips for you:

    A) In order to boot any device other than the built-in HDD (or SSD) Fast Boot/Fast BIOS needs to be disabled in BIOS settings (F2 immediately after power on). Of course if you are unable to enter BIOS I understand that is little help.

    B) If your computer is using UEFI mode (if it was sold with WIn8 or 8.1 pre-installed from the factory OR Windows was later re-installed in UEFI mode) it will not boot an NTFS-formatted USB device, only FAT32. Use Rufus to create your USB installation media, NOT Microsoft's USB creation tool. However, this should not affect booting from DVD.

    C) You can press F10 immediately after power (Esc on older models) in order to temporarily select a different boot device than the one selected in BIOS.

    D) If you want to try Recovery again, use a Complete Restore under Advanced (if you have the older Samsung Recovery Solution 5 that came with Win7 models) or enable Partition Setting (if you have the newer SRS6 that comes with Win8 models). This will completely wipe the disk and re-create the partitions. I think that might work.

Otherwise, if you cannot break that boot loop and get into BIOS, try the following in order to reset the BIOS tables:

    i) With the computer running (even if stuck in boot loop) press and hold power till it turns off. Then turn on again and see if you can enter BIOS (F2).

ii) If that doesn't solve it, unplug the power adapter, then insert a straightened paper clip through the battery disconnect hole in the bottom (or physically disconnect the battery if possible) and THEN press the power button for about a minute. After this reconnect the battery (if physically removed), plug the power adapter back in, and power on again.

I hope some of this will work. Please keep us updated so that others might benefit from your experience.

    Sorry for the late reply...

    1) What is the model number of your computer? NP530U4C-S06PH

    2) Which Windows version was pre-installed from the factory (this tells us whether it runs UEFI and which version of Samsung Recovery Solution)? Did you re-install Windows or are you running the original installation?

-Windows 8, i don't know the version of the SRS. I tried the Recovery mode but it's still the same. Stocks on Samsung Logo then it keeps restarting.

    3) Did you change any BIOS settings at any point?

I tried your suggestion but it's still the same :((((

One more thing, I'm just wondering because in the Boot Priority Order I just can see the "USB FDD:" and nothing else on it.

OK, thank you for that additional information.

Since your computer came with Windows 8, that means it was delivered in UEFI mode, and your Recovery is Samsung Recovery Solution 6 (SRS6). Also, your model has ExpressCache, which complicates installation from USB. This is important to know for future troubleshooting.

If you disabled UEFI, or if your BIOS settings were changed or lost in some other way, that would explain why it cannot see and boot your HDD. But if it is boot looping (and you are able to boot Recovery with F4) it sounds like it DOES actually see and boot from the HDD.

    1) First try and reset BIOS to default settings, save & reboot, and see if that helps. Again, make sure Fast BIOS/Fast Boot is disabled if you want to boot USB or DVD.

    2) Try and set OS Mode Selection=UEFI and CSM OS on the Boot page in BIOS. But before you change it, please notice the current setting of OS Mode Selection and let us know. Then save & reboot back into BIOS. Now check if your USB and DVD show up under Boot Priority Order.

    3) If none of these help, I suggest you proceed with the reset procedure I described in my previous post (with the battery disconnect).

Please let us know how that goes.

Edit: Another question: Did this boot loop start all by itself, or were you in the process of re-installing? If so, there are other explanations (and other solutions).
