Does anyone have experience with the Samsung service done by Intelisol Inc. in Fort Worth, Tx? My new NP900X4D A02US has a hair-line crack on the back of the lid at the corner of the left hinge. It doesn't affect anything now, but I'm worried that it might grow.

I've contacted Samsung and they want it shipped to Intelisol, but I'm reluctant to waste that much effort/time/expense if all they are going to do is put a dab of super glue on it. Although I've only had it a few days, I really love this notebook and would hate to be without it for a long repair.

    Thanks

    Bill

I'm surprised to read that the metal is cracking. Do you have a good camera which can take a photo and post it here?

I've attached a photo. The crack is so small it looks like a scratch, but putting pressure near it reveals it is a crack. I've tried emailing MacMall (store) about a return, but haven't heard anything yet.

Thanks for the photo. No one has ever reported anything similar but cracks tend to start from square inside corners (which is why the early Comet airliners fell out of the sky and all subsequent planes have rounded corners on their windows).

As you have only had it a few days then try to get a new replacement unit and let the retailer ship the defective one back to Samsung.

I sent my almost 1 year old Series 5 14" Ultrabook to them when the battery died, something much more was wrong so Samsung decided to replace it with a new Series 5 Ivy Bridge Touch version....so I had a pretty good experience :)

Thanks, everyone. MacMall agreed to have it returned, so it is on its way. The only question is whether they will have any replacements in stock or if I will have to take a refund and look elsewhere. I'm beginning to wonder if a NP900x4c A03US might be better - maybe stay away from Mg case tops.

The C is slightly heavier than the D. Personally, I prefer the black (it's actually a very dark blue) because there's no glare from the metal to distract from focusing on the screen and keyboard.

Which model did you send back to MacMall? What was their price?

Mine was the NP900X4D A02US, priced at $1570. Their NP900X4C A03US, my second choice, is $1800.
