So I ordered a proper Samsung battery to replace the one in my 18-month-old NP900X3C. Unscrewed the bottom cover, no problem. But the screws holding the old battery in place will...not...budge. I have tried *everything* I can think of (even heating one of the screws with a soldering iron) -- no luck.
Has anyone been able to replace a Series 9 battery? If so, how did you get the blasted thing out?
TIA!

A bit of heat should help to loosen any thread locking compound. However, how big is your screwdriver? I use one of these (I suspect the Philips size 1 tip works for the battery screws but the right size of tip is critical) but the bigger the screwdriver handle then the more torque and pressure you can apply. It's a matter of pushing as hard as you can so the bit doesn't slip in the screw head while carefully enough turning force to get the screw to move. Once it starts then the rest is easy.
When all else fails you are into extra kit such as stud extractors (you would need a very small one) or drilling off the screw head then hoping there's enough shaft remaining once the battery is removed to be able to grab it and twist it with a pair of pliers. (You then need to find a replacement screw).
