I'm having an issue with auto dimming on my series 7. From what I've read it's controlled via the easy settings software, however I unistalled the software after receiving the computer. I've tried to reinstall but am getting an installation failed error. I then tried download it directly from the samsung site and after trying installation I get an error message saying I have a previous version already installed, however I had previously uninstalled it through windows control panel.

Is there an altnerative way to turn off the auto dimming feature, it's driving me nuts?! Or has anyone successfully reinstalled the easy settings software? Thanks!

UPDATE: Figured it out. I had to uninstall the easy display manager software before I could reinstall the easy settings software.

I had an update forced on me today. Not sure if it was windows 8 or the samsung software. I've never had an update that you couldn't postpone in windows 7 on my Asus laptop. At least I got a 15 minute warning and then another 5 minute one. I assumed clicking cancel would prevent it, but it didn't.

Anyway, since then, the stupid Samsung auto-dimming crap software has taken control and I'm currently unaware of how to brighten the screen to full brightness again. Clicking on the brightness option, or using the function keys on the keyboard just tells me that brightness is turned all the way up. It won't override this auto dimming garbage. My power profile has been reset to maximum performance, but that didn't make a difference. Still dim. Any ideas people, while I keep looking?
