Spec wise the PC is great, however when it comes to built quality its somewhat medicore. You will be disappointed with the speaker grill in the front as it will collect dust in a matter of days and its very difficult to clean. In addition, there is some creaking sound coming out of the button of laptop when you try to carry it. Finally the colors in the screen are somehow washed out, the black isn't dark enough.

I had one for a few days and gave it to my relative and bought a Asus N56VZ instead as all the negatives I mentioned above are not there and plus the superior built quality and design (Aluminium vs. plastic) makes this laptop more desirable (and it has a back-lit keyboard ;).

Thx for the heads up, I'll just have to keep on looking for a suitable system for my needs.

I'm content with it. I agree with the screen - it's the weakest part of the package. But I don't have any of the creaking that he's talking about.

The speaker grill does collect large particles of dust, obviously depends how dusty your house is, but it is easily cleared by using a short burst from a compressed air can, which everyone should use to keep their laptop dust free anyways.

But yes, other than the screen, I can find little to complain about.

Actually, no, you're thinking of the NP5 30. The NP5 50, however, is a completely different laptop.

The NP550 comes with a 1600x900 screen, a full-powered Ivy Bridge processor (in this case, the i7-3610QM), GT 650M graphics, blu-ray drive, and 8GB RAM.

There are a few other spec differences, but those are the most noticeable.

    Hi,

I purchased a 550P5C-S02AU a couple of days ago. I've been doing some gaming and the CPU temp is off the charts (90C+). The game in question is CS:GO and it reaches these temps after only a few minutes of playing. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing my problems and any possible solutions.

Intel CPUs start to throttle at 95C. Use HWiNFO to see if this is happening.

What GPU temperature does HWiNFO report?

I just played BF3 and got a temp of 92c in one of my cores, I haven't really checked before your post, tell you the true I don't really care. If it frys on me which I doubt it will, I'll just get it repaired under warranty and I don't intend to own this or any other laptop long enough for heat to do any long term damage. If this matters to you the GPU got to 84, I don't have a cooling pad but do have the back of my laptop lifted 25mm by ways of a 25 x 25 mm length of timber block.

I spoke with this Chinese computer technician a few years ago and to quote him "I've repaired thousands of computers and have only ever seen one fried CPU. I have done a clean install and run very few programs on this laptop, what can you do?
