Considering what I read about the Series 9, I'm probably answering my own question here but I just purchased and received a Series 3 with the 12.1" Screen/Core I5 unit.

Everything about it is awesome, it's so tiny. The only issue with it is that it cannot and will not stay connected to wifi. I've even located it right next to the router on my computer desk and it still craps out after about 3-5 minutes of connection.

Does anyone else have this issue or do I have a defective machine? I ordered online so I'd hate to go through the process of repackaging and reshipping.

I would not expect the Series 3 to have any WiFi issues as it does not have the Duralumin case.

It is weird that you're having that problem though. You may have to try different GHz (2.4 vs. 5) and different bands (20 and 40) to see if you can get a combination that works. Right next to the router, wireless-n should be the better option.

FYI The Series 9 has Duralumin casing on top and bottom. If you take the bottom off, there is no WiFi issue so I don't think there's any inherent WiFi problem with the insides of Samsung Series x laptops.

I bought a samsung series 3 notebook today and confronted with the weak wi-fi reception issue right away. Even just next the wireless modem, the signal was medium and some times after it went weak. There is not much information on the net, but after couples of hours digging and try and fail strategy I've solved the issue by turning off the bluetooth. Now the signal is at maximum.
Hope this will help your problems too.

As you could tell from my many posts on the subject, the WiFi problem on Series 9 is the Duralumin casing that is used.

I also have a Series 3 11.6" which had wifi reception issues (moderate to good signal sitting two feet from an access point) until I turned Bluetooth off. No problems at all now and it'll even connect to my school's wifi in the computer lab, which is usually really dodgy to connect to for some reason, lol.
