The fan does not run at full speed even after core temp hits 105C and the processor keeps throttling.

embedded controller 0BxA0 is probably the write register, setting it to 00 will stop the fan (reset?), but i can find a value to force the fan to start

D0x09, D0x0A, D0x0B, 01xF0 are probably write registers. But i can figure out what the values mean.

    Any ideas?

Samsung laptop is a great example of poor engineering and support. As soon as the fan speeds up, the temp will drop 30 degrees in 30s. Too bad it usually does not even after reaching 105C....

The only thing Samsung support can do is wasting my time.... either talking to someone who does not know what a computer is or asked to send the laptop to their Texas facility, of course I have to pay for shipping and wait for 2 months.

Try a different BIOS version. See this thread for guidance.

And if you are still in warranty then speak more nicely to Samsung support and you may get more sympathy. The only reason for repair turnarounds to take more than a few days is because of non-availability of parts. I hadn't previously read that USA users have to pay for shipping for warranty repairs. Perhaps others can confirm this.

For this model/series, there are no drivers/BIOS available.... For a 2013 laptop all drivers are for Windows XP, no driver at all for Win7/8/*nix, and even the stock BIOS isn't there.... Contacted supported and they said no drivers are available for this model...
Samsung just buy batches of crappy laptops and put its name on it... this brand is totally worthless....

I just looked up your model: There is a full selection of drivers for both Win7 and Win8 (see screenshots below). Samsung has not provided updated drivers on their website for quite some time now. It's all pulled from a database using their SW Update utility.

You can download SW Update from here:

Please try and lighten up. We've all experienced frustrations with computers, but it's not as bad as you think. It almost never is. And nobody here is affiliated with Samsung, so unloading those frustrations on us will accomplish nothing -- even if it's sometimes understandable. Everybody spends time here on their own dime, just trying to help each other.

I recommend you check for any BIOS update using the standalone BIOS Update program as described here rather than letting SW Update do the BIOS updating (which sometimes doesn't work properly).

You're saying you're using your NP350 to run Windows Server, and it won't let you install SW Update?

It would have been best to use SW Update to download all the driver files before you wiped the OS that came with the laptop. Then you could have installed the downloaded drivers after loading Windows Server on it.

You can try to install SW Update on another PC running Win7 or Win8, then save the driver files from there; but I don't know if it will run on a non-Samsung PC. Otherwise you can install a barebones Win7 or Win8 on a partition or VHD, install SW Update once it's running, and use that to download the drivers. Preserve that installation for later so you can check for updates down the road.

Again, the key here, which you probably missed, is that SW update can download and save drivers for any Samsung model and save them locally for later installation.

Hope that works for you. Please let us know, so we're not spending time in vain here ;)

I run Samsung SW update on a Windows 7 computer (non-Samsung) and downloaded the driver. Samsung lists like 5 drivers for every device.....(5 WLAN drivers, 4 Bluetooth drivers etc.)
I installed the Atheros Bluetooth driver and rebooted

Just as I expected, this is what I got from every Atheros AR3012 driver I have tried.
    VID_0CF3&PID_3004&REV_0001
This crap just does not work.

And there is no BIOS update available in SW update. So SW update has been pretty much useless... For everything other than Bluetoth, Windows 7 SP1 has the driver built-in and the latest driver can be easily found from the vendor (I mean Intel, Realtek etc. not Samsung)

    And thanks for the help.

Yes, I can see under your model they have multiple WLAN and Bluetooth driver versions listed (in addition to having separate versions for 32-bit vs 64-bit). It's because your model exists both with Atheros and Intel cards. Look in Device Manager which card you have. It sounds like you installed the wrong driver for your card.

But you're exactly right, in the case of WiFi, I recommend you just get the latest Driver Only package from Intel Download Center (assuming you have Intel WiFi). And for Bluetooth, I recommend you just leave it to the built-in Win7 driver.

But there are several other drivers which you want to get through SW Update and which you cannot get any other way. Check the Win7 install guide in this post for details.

I had something similar when I tried to swap an Intel 6235 WiFi card for the older 6230. Evidently the hardware was too similar for the driver to be properly reinstalled but was too different to work (so I gave up and put the 6235 back in).

I wonder if you need to uninstall the old driver and then do a thorough clean of the registry (you might need to physically remove the WiFi card) so that you can do a clean installation, probably using Windows Update to figure out the hardware and the right driver.
