    Hi,
I upgraded my R510 from w7 to win10 but Samsung Recovery Solution 5 does not work any more after the upgrade. In a Samsung Windows 10 Upgrade Step-by-step guide it says "Run Samsung SW Update to install the latest version, Samsung Recovery Solution 5.7, and then, when restarting, press the F4 key when the Samsung logo appears to run Recovery Solution to update it." When opening SW update version 5.7. does not appear also for other models. I have found in the web that this version exists but did not find a download link. Can anybody provide a download link? Any help is very much appreciated.

    Hi tacitus1, welcome to NBR.

Unfortunately Windows version upgrades tend to break Samsung Recovery Solution (SRS). The same thing happened previously for users who updated to Win8 and 8.1.

If you have backups created with SRS, you can access them by (temporarily) re-installing Windows 7 -- or roll back the Windows Update, although that often fails (you'd think Microsoft had learned something by now). I realize that is a lot of work, only to be done if those backups are critically important.

SRS can be made to work with newer Windows versions if you upgrade to SRS 6.x. SRS 5.x only works with Win7. This generally involves wiping the disk and re-creating the Recovery partitions using Admin Tool in the newer SRS. See @Gulfmaster's excellent guide and advice in the threads linked below:

Also see the general guide here for backing up and re-creating SRS.

Do note that the SRS app installed with SW Update is just a Windows skin over the actual SRS software on the Samsung Recovery partition. Updating that Windows app alone will not make SRS compatible with Win10.
