    Hello there

I just got a Q430-11 last week and I noticed that it had two hard drive partitions, (C and D). Anyways I didn;t like that so I merged the two partitions and now everytime I start windows I get an error message saying that the recovery partition can't be found but it's still there because I can see it on the hard disk manager. I also installed Linux Ubuntu so I don't know if that has something to do with my problem.

You most likely lost the MBR master boot record from the hdd when you merged the two partitions and that is why boot time recovery does not work, does Recovery Solution 4 work in windows, if not did you burn the recovery dvd`s , if so they will usually fix the mbr when they restore the system, it`s been a while since i had a Samsung so i am not 100% certain.

I've already tried fixing the MBR one time I removed Ubuntu, but I still got the same result.

IIRC the factory configuration has (i) a hidden partition which has the original factory configuration and (ii) is set to use D: to store user backups. If you have deleted D: then keeping that as a separate place for backups will no longer work.

So if I make another partition and name it D: would it work?
